Proverbs 17:22 NKJ
A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.

Proverbs 17:22 AMP

22A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

 ——————————-

It was God who thought up laughter and smiles in the first place and He is the One who gives us those gifts. I believe that there is plentiful evidence that God Himself has an excellent sense of humor and He wants the same for us. He knew what good these would do for our souls, our minds, our bodies.

Father, this cancer stuff is really hard. I feel so sad, overwhelmed, and discouraged inside sometimes I hardly know what to do. Thank You Lord, for teaching me during this season of great trial to pro-actively cultivate a growing sense of humor and how You are giving me a down-deep joy wrapped up in Christ that has nothing to do with circumstance and emotion and everything to do with You!  Out with “a broken spirit and dry bones”, in with a genuinely happy heart, a healthy, cheerful mind, welcoming Your healing touch.

Praising Him and rejoicing in Him with my whole heart,

Paula

“Check your shampoo bottle label.   I don’t know WHY I didn’t figure this out sooner. It’s the shampoo I use in the shower!  When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body and (duh!) printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning…   FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY!   NO wonder I have been gaining weight!  Well!  I have gotten rid of that shampoo and I am going to start using Dawn dish soap instead. Their label reads,  DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE.  Problem Solved! If I don’t answer the phone …I’ll be in the shower!”

 Prayer for 2011

“Dear God:

For 2011, I’d like to ask You for a fat bank account and a slim body.

Please do not mix up the two like you did last year.
Amen.”

A HEALTHY DOSE OF LAUGHTER

"I read that a child laughs 400 times a day on the average, while an adult laughs
only
15 times each day . . . which is puzzling since laughter feels so good and is so
good
for us!

You may know the benefits of laughter on the mind and spirit, but are you aware
of
how much a good laugh can help you physically? Norman Cousins used to say that
laughter is so beneficial for your body that it is like ‘inner jogging’.

Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic Health Letter, March 1993) reports that laughter aids
breathing by disrupting your normal respiration pattern and increasing your
breathing
rate. It can even help clear mucus from your lungs.

Laughter is also good for your heart. It increases circulation and improves the
delivery
of oxygen and nutrients to tissues throughout your body.

A good laugh helps your immune system fight off colds, flu and sinus problems by

increasing the concentration of immunoglobulin A in your saliva. And it may
help
control pain by raising the levels of certain brain chemicals (endorphins).

Furthermore, it is a natural stress reliever. Have you ever laughed so hard
that you
doubled over, fell off your chair, spit out your food or wet your pants? You
cannot
maintain muscle tension when you are laughing!

The good news is that you are allowed more than 15 laughs a day! Go ahead and
double the dose and make it 30 times today. (You may begin to notice immediate
improvement in your relationships!) Then double it again! You are bound to
feel better,
you will cope with problems more effectively and people will enjoy being around
you.

Laughter: it's just good medicine!"

329. Thank You Lord for a wonderful visit with my Mom and two of my sisters.
They went home to Tucson on Wednesday and Thursday. What a blessing for them to come!
