“Joy Through My Teardrops and Gains Thru My Losses”

Did you hear about the blonde gal who went to the pop machine and put in her 25 cents and out came a soda?  After that she put in another quarter, and another, and another…Time went by and there was quite a line behind her until one gentleman spoke up and said, “Excuse me, Lady,  can we have a turn too please?’

The blonde smiled sweetly at him and replied, “No way, not while I’m winning!”

Lord, every single gift comes from You…“Lift my gaze to see life from Your perspective. Help me to understand-and treasure-every good thing You send…”(From James 1:7)   One Thousand Gifts   http://www.aholyexperience.com/
716. Pam and Terry sent me a very beautiful song, written by Janice Rogers Edmiston, out of the deepest heartache of her life. It was written to be sung to the music of “A Few of My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music, one of my girls favorite movies. This is now one of my new favorite songs. 🙂
Joy thru my teardrops, and gains thru my losses
Beauty for ashes, and crowns for my crosses;
He binds my wounds, and He dries all my tears
Calms every storm and He conquers my fears.
He gives me hinds’ feet to walk on high places,
He floods my soul with His heavenly graces;
When I am weak then His strength makes me strong
I know I can trust Him, He’s never been wrong.

Trials may come and temptations assail me
Though I may falter, He never will fail me;
So Satan I bind you in His holy name
For at the cross Jesus’ blood overcame!

When the doubt comes, when I’m lonely
When my heart is sad;
I’ll lift up mine eyes to my Savior above
And Jesus will make me glad.

When in my heart there is sadness and sorrow
Jesus has promised a brighter tomorrow;
Victory is mine, yes, it’s already won
I’ve only to claim it by faith in God’s Son.

All of my cares I will cast down before Him
Even in trials my heart will adore Him;
He bears my burdens, He comforts my soul
Oh why should I worry when He’s in control?

Lord in the time of deep grief and emotion
I will yet serve You with constant devotion;
You have not failed me one step of the way
That is the reason I’ll trust You and say:

I will praise You! I will praise You!
Jesus Christ my King;
For You fill my heart with a song in the night
Yes, You make my heart to sing!

  1. I like this song, but find I need the music accompaniment to sing it. 🙂 We are rejoicing with you over your good news that you don’t have cancer popping up elsewhere. It has been a good December for us and this is my baking week. Our Christmas will be at New Year’s at our daughter’s in the Dallas area. Her daughter, Kristen is leaving on a mission trip to Jamaica with the college dept at her church on the 31st, so we are praying it will be a spirit led week. I am going to send your blog to Norma Highsmith, Darrell’s cousin’s wife who has a new type of cancer that they have not treated before in Alton, IL. They are trying some new pills approved in October, otherwise don’t know what to do for her. She is also getting radiation for another type of cancer. She has great faith and has turned it over to the Lord.

  2. It was so nice to get to be with you guys recently, Joy. I’m glad you like the song too.

    Thx for the update, Verona. I’m glad you are having some special family time. I’d love to connect with Norma if she’s interested and just lifted her in prayer.

  3. My heart and prayers go out to Norma also. I pray that they find what works and that this will be the last of it for her.

    Glad for your good news also Paula.

    I have had 14 out of 33 radiation treatments, almost half way there. Yeah!

    God Bless and Happy New Year. Kathy
